LEADERSHIP
Andrew F. Kagen serves as Co-Founder and leads Strategy & Legal at Powderhouse, where he is responsible for the institution’s governance, legal architecture, intellectual property strategy, and long-term continuity. His work is centered on a single objective: ensuring Powderhouse is built to endure.
Over a career spanning decades, Andrew has advised entrepreneurs, investors, and privately held companies on the legal and organizational decisions that determine whether businesses merely grow—or survive. His experience spans corporate law, venture formation, governance, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, succession planning, risk management, and complex business strategy. Across each discipline, his focus has remained consistent: building structures that remain resilient through change.
At Powderhouse, Andrew designs and safeguards the institutional framework that supports every layer of the company. He oversees the legal structures that protect the firm’s intellectual property, establishes governance systems that preserve accountability as the organization scales, and helps ensure strategic decisions strengthen the institution rather than compromise it. His work is measured not by individual transactions, but by whether the organization becomes stronger with each passing year.
He works in close partnership with the leadership team to ensure the company’s legal foundation evolves alongside its infrastructure without sacrificing clarity, discipline, or purpose. As Powderhouse expands, he helps preserve the principles on which it was founded while preparing the institution for the demands of future generations of founders, investors, and operators.
Andrew believes the strongest institutions are not built around personalities or moments of success. They are built on governance, stewardship, and structures capable of outlasting the people who create them. His responsibility is to ensure Powderhouse is designed with that permanence in mind—protecting what has been built today while preserving the flexibility to evolve for decades to come.
Andrew leads the legal and strategic disciplines that support the institution.
His role is to ensure Powderhouse remains structurally sound, legally disciplined, and prepared for long-term continuity.
